What have we been up to?
August 27, 2017
A new blog post has been a long time in coming, no excuses, we have been very busy!
Some of our summer plans for 2017 simply did not pan out, promised funding did not appear, initiatives were delayed and there were significant mechanical issues with the first motorcycle to be dealt with (remember the first motorcycle was a prototype and the first of its kind in the world!).
As the leader and founder, of the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles Association, the “buck” stops with me, I have reached out to everyone and apologized, and made good where I could.
But let’s not short our accomplishments; look what we did:
We have a dedicated team of fantastic veterans, history buffs, and supporters – for this we are eternally grateful,
We have created Iron Harvest collectables and other patent pending collectables,
Ran an educational program focused on Vimy with the Royal Canada Legion Ontario Command that was out to 3000 schools in Ontario,
We have run a “Carnegie Hall” level “Vimy” band concert, with living history displays and trench dinner,
We have fielded two working replica WW1 Douglas Motorcycles complete with side cars, with drivers in accurate and authentic uniforms,
We ran a very successful living history event with Royal Canadian legion 551 in Waterdown,
Were in the lead at the Canada day parade in Cambridge leading the other Vets,
Run living history events with the Great War Flying Museum,
Run living history events at Fort George,
We have established a relationship with numerous motorcycle clubs and are particularly excited about our relationship with Canadian Army Veterans (CAV) Motorcycle Club,
Coming up we will be at the Ajax Rod and Gun Club, Canada 150 events, the Invictus Games as well as Remembrance Day events with much more planned!
Certainly not least we have solidified our support for the Army, Sea and Air Cadets, Wounded Warriors Canada and Dave Sopha – Portraits of Honour,
We have experienced our share of successes and growing pains, just like any other not for profit goes through.
The best is yet to come, our marquis event for the next three (3) years is the relaunch of Red (Remember Everyone Deployed) Friday, standby by for details.
